I will start posting new songs I’m listening to over the next few weeks, Some aren’t necessarily the most upbeat songs you’ve ever heard – some I just enjoy listening to and therefore makes my running a lot more enjoyable. It’s best to have a mix of old and new I think as you’ll never get bored. I update mine every few days as I’m constantly on the lookout for new songs. Update it every couple of weeks with your new favourite songs to ensure you have your own ultimate playlist.īelow are some examples of what’s on my iPod at the moment.

The best way to make sure you enjoy your time running (remember it’s probably the only peace and quiet you’re going to get to yourself in that day) is take some time out and create your own running playlist. Just because you’re running doesn’t mean you have to listen to the fastest uptempo 12 minute dance remix you’ve ever heard. No run you ever have will be the same so it’s important to ensure you have a wide range of music that will suit your mood – just like when you listen to your iPod in bed or on the way to work in the morning. Why do you think there are so many CDs in the world? No one has the same exact taste in music otherwise we’d all be listening to the same stuff – and the world would be very boring. Most songs on these CDs have been played and played for months on commercial radio stations and you aren’t likely to have any personal connections to them. Here are a few that cropped up on a number of occasions:ĭavid Guetta – Every single David Guetta song that has ever been releasedĮxample – Every single Example song that has ever been released Browsing some of the playlists made me laugh out loud.

Many of these compilation tracks are made up of cliché music that music companies think they know you want to listen to but you really don’t. There’s nothing wrong with having one of these CDs on your iPod but in my opinion they won’t do much for your motivation – half of the songs on there you probably have never heard of before (i didn’t) and here will always be a few songs on there that remind you of that one really bad run you had a few months back. There’s no denying that these music playlists contain some good songs but the most important thing about running is that you are able to maintain your routine – and also that you enjoy it. You only have to do a quick google search of “running songs” for websites like Amazon & Play to start throwing hundreds of running compilation CDs at you – “101 running songs” “Running Trax” “NOW That’s What I Call Running”.
